Assistance to Pensioners and Community Groups

Eligible Pensioner Concession Card holders receive assistance in the payment of their rates and charges via a Council rebate on various rates and charges on their principal place of residence only. This remission is in addition to the State Government Pensioner Rate Subsidy Scheme. For details on the amount of the Council remission please see Council's Current Adopted Budget.

Community Assistance and Non Profit Organisations Rate Remissions
Council grants a concession on rates to some non-profit organisations.  In considering the application of concessions, Council will be guided by the principles of:

  • Equity by having regard to the different levels of capacity to pay within the local community with regard to community ‘not-for-profit’ organisations;
  • Consistency and clarity by consistent treatment for ratepayers receiving concessional rating;
  • Transparency by making clear the requirements necessary to receive concessions and by reporting any such concessions applied.
