Longreach Regional Council endeavours to provide the community, individuals, and businesses with a healthy, safe, habitable and sustainable environment by the provision of social and cultural services and essential infrastructure.

Council will provide these services through community and regional collaboration, open communication and transparent processes within the bounds of sound financial practices. Economic and social growth are encouraged through progressive, innovative and responsible management and planning strategies.

A high standard of professionalism is developed and maintained through our code of ethics, equal opportunity practices and ongoing training.

Vision

Council

  • Being proactive and innovative in seeking opportunities and identifying projects that benefit Longreach and the region
  • Adopt modern procedures and relevant technologies that allow the Council the opportunity to become more sustainable in providing employment opportunities
  • Increase communication within Council and community

Finance and Administration

  • Be financially responsible by identifying and acting on opportunities to diversify Councils’ revenue base and access other funding sources
  • Foster an administration that oversees and supports the Council as a whole

Essential Services

  • Establish and maintain a five year plan for the provision of amenities, infrastructure, and services

Economy

  • Promote Longreach Region as a major economic centre through the development of a plan to encourage economic growth with a clear aim of maintaining a sustainable community

Community

  • Promote the Region as a safe and caring community
  • Develop and maintain a suitable social and cultural environment through the provision of a diverse range of services and facilities in consultation with other stakeholders

Environment

  • Encourage a sustainable environment through the review and implementation of the Integrated Environmental Management System
  • Develop a strategy to increase community understanding and participation in maintaining and enhancing the environment of the Region.
