Longreach Regional Council Health and Wellbeing Month
Welcome to Longreach Regional Council’s first evert Health and Wellbeing Month. The month of May features over 30 events and activities including Yoga, Hydrotherapy, Tennis, Golf, Walking and much more. In addition to sports and physical activities, the program offers events designed to improve mental health, such as breakfasts, reading groups, arts and crafts activities and morning teas. Please see below for more information on each event.
Monday 1st May
National Volunteer Week is an annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of our nation’s volunteers. Held 8–14 May 2017, thousands of events across the country will be held to say thank you to the 6 million Australians who volunteer. Longreach Regional Council is taking the month of May to recognise volunteers in our community by sending them a small thank you. You can nominate a volunteer here or email email@example.com .
Tuesday 2nd May
Find your inner Zen this month with Yoga at the Longreach Hostel. Classes are free and everyone from beginners to experienced is welcome to attend. Please wear comfy clothes and BYO yoga mat or towel. For more information visit the Longreach Yoga Group - https://www.facebook.com/longreachyogagroup

Give your cat a hug this Wednesday for International Hug your Cat Day.
Thursday 4th May
Have an afternoon of fun for all the family at the Longreach Golf Course on Thursday afternoons from 4:00pm.The Longreach Golf Course is located on Cramsie Muttaburra Road and for information email Bill at firstname.lastname@example.org .
Friday 5th May
Everyone is invited to the first Longreach Healthy Community Breakfast as part of this years Health and Wellbeing Month. Come down from 6:30am to 9am in QANTAS Park, next to the Visitor Information Centre in Eagle Street. Meet with North West Remote Health Dietitians to discuss health options you can incorporate into your every day diet. Saturday 6th May
Support your local races this Saturday at the Longreach Jockey Club. Starting at 12 noon, frock up for the Fashions on the Field to win great prizes. Food, Bar and Tote will be available throughout the afternoon. Dance the night away with live entertainment after the last race. For more information visit the Longreach Jockey Club Facebook page.
Sunday 7th May
Have some fun at the Ilfracombe Colour Run! Starting at the Wellshot Hotel at 8:00am, everyone is invited to run, jog or walk 3 kilometre the course. Following the run stay for the Wellshot Hotel Markets and Breakfast. Wear white and comfortable walking shoes.
