Town Commons to Open - 11 June 2018
Council has been conducting pasture assessments on all commons within the Longreach Region to gauge the suitability of them being reopened. As a result it’s been determined our commons can be opened in a limited capacity to horses only. The number of horses permitted is being limited to two per household until further notice. Applications received will determine if a household numbers increase is warranted. Only horses owned by the residents of each relevant Township will be permitted to place horses on the common.
Longreach South Common- Horses only, maximum of 20 head permitted.
Ilfracombe North Common- Horses only, maximum of 15 head permitted.
Isisford Common- Horses only, maximum of 15 head permitted.
Yaraka Common- Horses only maximum of 5 head permitted.
Agistment applications are now available from Councils branch offices and all required documentation must be provided at the time of lodgement. This includes a Registerable Biosecurity Entity (RBE) and the relevant stock movement documents. Payments of one month’s agistment fees in advance are required. No stock will be permitted on any common unless a Council Officer is present to inspect the animal and gather final details. New terms and conditions of agistment on Town Commons will accompany all applications and these are binding.
