Ian Bodill GAICD
The CEO is appointed under local government regulation and is primarily responsible for the overall management and leadership of Council's operations. This involves regular contact with constituents, external stakeholders and other government entities.
Ian commenced duties as the Chief Executive Officer at Longreach Regional Council on 21 September 2015.
Ian has 26 years experience in Local Government within Western Australia, Northern Territory and now in Queensland and of which nearly 21 years have been in the role of Chief Executive Officer.
He has worked for Local Governments such as Augusta/Margaret River, Broome, Serpentine/Jarrahdale, Bridgetown/Greenbushes and was appointed as the inaugural CEO for the East Arnhem Shire in the Northern Territory.
Ian places an emphasis on Strategic Planning, Economic Development, maintaining a culture of good customer service and a team approach towards achieving outcomes.
He has a Masters in Business Administration, a Masters in Business (Property), a Masters in Emergency Management, a Graduate Diploma in Business and a Diploma in Local Government. He is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Director of Corporate Services /
Deputy Chief Executive Officer
Paul Hockings commenced duties as the Director of Corporate Services at Longreach Regional Council on 11 May 2015. He has 25 years experience across mining/refinery, community relations, local government, and agribusiness, with the last 10 years in North East Arnhemland, Northern Territory.
Recently he was managing large contracts, in excess of $20M, within the client side of a multi-national mining company ensuring optimum delivery of operational and maintenance services to a remote refinery and mining operation. A prior role with the same company had him responsible for mining company accommodation and other assets within the special purpose town of Nhulunbuy.
His local government experience includes the positions of Town Administrator/ CEO and Administration Manager / CFO of the Nhulunbuy Corporation Limited and prior to this Manager of Corporate Services, Urana Shire Council, NSW.
Paul has a Bachelor of Business from Charles Sturt University and is a member of CPA Australia and Local Government Managers’ Australia.
Paul is married to Michelle and they have three children Makaela, Darcie, and Thomas. He is looking forward to working for a local government council again and getting to know the local community.
Director of Infrastructure Services
Roger Naidoo commenced duties as the Director of Infrastructure Services at Longreach Regional Council on 23 May 2016. He has over 25 years experience in civil construction and local government in Australia and abroad. Roger has managed multi-million dollar civil construction projects while working for large private construction companies and has spent the last 17 years in a local government environment.
His Local Government experience comes from holding various management roles in Queensland, Western Australia, and Overseas.
Roger has a Bachelor’s Degree in Technology: Civil Engineering, Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering and a Diploma in Civil Engineering.
Roger is married to Vimla and has two daughters, Lee-Anne and Machaela. They are looking forward to settling in and calling Longreach home.
Director of Community and Cultural Services
David Perry commenced duties as the Director of Community and Cultural Services at Longreach Regional Council in December 2016. He brings to bear extensive experience in Education, Facility Management and Service Delivery in both public and private sector roles.
David has a Bachelor of Education and is a member of the Queensland College of Teachers.
The Directorate is responsible for the following areas in Council:
-People and Culture
-Recreation and Open Space Planning
-Seniors and Family
-Facilities and Operations
David is committed to delivering economic, environmental and socially sustainable services which enhance liveability and offer opportunities for social mobility in our communities. He resides in Ilfracombe and is looking forward to making a difference in the Central Western Region.
