Property Pest Management

1080 Campaigns

Council utilises sodium fluoroacetate, also known as 1080, as pesticide for the control of pest animals. 1080 is target-specific for controlling pest species in Australia and is registered for use in the control of wild dogs, feral pigs, foxes and rabbits.

1080 is widely used in Australia to protect agricultural production and native flora and fauna from the impacts of pest animals. 1080 is the most efficient, human and species specific pesticide currently available for declared animal control in Australia.

1080 can be supplied and used only by accredited Department of Natural Resources and Water and Local Government Officers for the purpose of controlling declared pests and is not available for sale directly to the public.

For more details on 1080, download the Fact Sheet.

Weeds

Declared plants and weeds have the capability to spread rapidly and can cause significant environmental harm to agricultural land and financial hardship to producers surrounding the town area.

Council undertakes inspections of allotments and may issue notices to landholders requiring them to remove the declared plant from the property.

A list of declared plants and weeds and fact sheets on how to control them is available from the Department of Natural Resources and Mining website   or by calling into the Council Office.
