Water Supply
Most dwellings have both river and bore water supply, except the newer areas of Longreach (only river water). River water is limited by the season, so it is essential that all users maintain 'Water Wise' practices. Water meters are read twice a year by Council and excessive consumption is charged to the owner once a year. Water meters are installed with all river water connections.
Bore Supply
Council has a policy to continue this service for properties currently connected however it does not allow new connections, reconnections of any previously disconnected services or any new extensions to the reticulation system. Council is currently examining avenues to better manage the Bore Water supply in order to make the service socially, environmentally and financially acceptable to the community. Please note that Council does not provide a hot water service and cannot guarantee what the temperature of the bore water will be.
To disconnect from the bore supply please complete this form and return it to Council. Please be aware that once the bore water supply is disconnected by Council, it cannot be reconnected.
