Amendment of Local Law and Subordinate Local Laws
1.    Pursuant to the provisions of the Local Government Act 2009, Longreach Regional Council (the “Council”) has, by resolution dated 10 December 2020, made amendments to Local Law No. 1 (Administration) 2011, Subordinate Local Law No. 2 (Animal Management) 2011, and Subordinate Local Law No. 3 (Community and Environmental Management) 2011.

Authorising Local Laws
2.    Local Law No. 2 (Animal Management) 2011 authorises the making of amendments to Subordinate Local Law No. 2 (Animal Management) 2011.
3.    Local Law No. 3 (Community and Environmental Management) 2011 authorises the making of amendments to Subordinate Local Law No. 3 (Community and Environmental Management) 2011. 

Purpose and General Effect
4.    The purpose and general effect of the amendment to Local Law No. 1 (Administration) 2011 is to clarify the definition of a temporary home, and to allow occupation of moveable dwellings such as caravans for up to four weeks, provided no payment is exchanged. 
5.    The purpose and general effect of the amendment to Subordinate Local Law No. 2 (Animal Management) 2011 is to introduce restrictions and requirements for the keeping of rats within the designated town area. 
6.    The purpose and general effect of the amendment to Subordinate Local Law No. 3 (Community and Environmental Management) 2011 is to permit conditional use of backyard fires for cooking and heating purposes.

Inspection
7.    Copies of the Local Law and Subordinate Local Laws identified in paragraph 1 may be – 

  • a)    Inspected and purchased at Council’s public offices at 96a Eagle Street, Longreach, 1 Devon Street, Ilfracombe, and 20 St Mary Street, Isisford; and
  • b)    Viewed by the public on the Department of Local Government, Racing and Multicultural Affairs website.
