Council begins search for new Chief Executive Officer
With Mr Bodill stepping down in three months time, Council is commencing what it expects to be a far-reaching recruitment process. Mayor Warren said Mr Bodill has left big shoes to fill.
“Ian has been a great fit for the organisation and a popular and respected leader to our staff and Councillors alike. He’s created a great team culture that has delivered some important results for our community.
“We’re really grateful to him for everything he’s done for Council – he’s going to be missed.”
He said Council will be searching far and wide to find the right person to take on the role.
“We’re deliberately casting a wide net in our search for the next person to take us forward” he said. “We’ve engaged Peak Services to run the recruitment campaign and we’re hoping their specialist local government experience and unrivalled networks will result in a diverse field of candidates.
“There are a few things we think are important that we’ll be looking for in the new person. For example, we think previous local government experience will be vital – we’re preparing our Budget for 2019/2020 and that will be one of the first things the new person implements, so a sound understanding of the sector and its financial challenges will be essential.
“It’s definitely important that whoever takes over has the people skills to extend our positive culture and engage effectively with our workforce and the community. We also think some Economic Development credentials will be beneficial to continue the good work being done in that area.”
Mayor Warren said locals with relevant experience are still encouraged to apply.
“Even though we’re casting a wide net, if there’s someone in our community or our region with the skills and experience to take us forward, we want to hear from them.”
