This Service offers a range of Approved and Licensed Childcare options to suit the needs of parents and children living in the west. From the Kindergarten Program to Mobile and After School Care, the friendly and dedicated staff at the Centre can help you choose the type of care that will best support your family. Families using Approved Childcare Programs are able to claim Child Care Benefit and working families may also able to claim Child Care Rebate to help offset the cost of childcare. Please discuss your eligibility with staff at the Child Care Centre and Centrelink.

Child Care Centre
Located in Longreach, the Child Care Centre operates under the National Quality Framework and is licensed to cater for children from 6 weeks to 12 years of age. There are 4 full-time rooms and staff work weekdays from 7am to 6pm, 50 weeks of the year.
This Program operates at the Child Care Centre on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays of the school term. It reflects the Early Years Learning Framework and Queensland Kindergarten Guidelines.
Longreach Vacation Care Program
The Vacation Care Program operates in Longreach during the school holidays for school-aged children. The Program runs from weekdays from 7am to 6pm, and includes fun activities and excursions.
Longreach After School Care Program
The Longreach After School Care Program for school aged children during each school term weekday morning (7am to 9am) and afternoon (3pm to 6pm).
Fees include all activities, bus to and from school, food for special events and afternoon tea.
Mobile Child Care Unit
The Longreach & Districts Mobile Childcare Unit takes one day of childcare to the towns of Muttaburra (Monday), Aramac (Tuesday), Ilfracombe (Wednesday) and Isisford (Thursday) each week of the school term.
The program caters for children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age and runs from 9am to 4pm. Fees for the program include all activities, however parents are requested to supply their own child/children's food.
Longreach and Districts Family Day Care Scheme
Family Day Care provides care in the homes of registered Educators.
Educators receive regular visits from Co-ordinators to ensure the quality of care is upheld, Educators also receive ongoing support and resources.
A home based care environment is a positive, nurturing environment that strives to build a relationship between Educator, child and family, that is supportive of the needs of all parties.
Rural In Home Care Program
This program places an Educator in the home of the family for the period care is required each week.
This may be part-time or full-time care. The aim is to provide childcare for families who have an ongoing need and who are unable to access mainstream childcare programs. Places for this service are limited. Please contact Child Care Centre staff for more information.
