Central West community invited to learn about new Child Safe Organisations laws

From 1 October 2025, Queensland’s new Child Safe Organisations laws came into effect.  This means that if you provide services to children and young people or facilities for their use you will need to be able to demonstrate how you are keeping young Queenslanders safe.

These changes will be introduced in phases and will impact a wide range of organisations including local councils, businesses, as well as child protection, justice, disability and community services, schools, early childhood education, health services, sporting and cultural groups, transport services and religious bodies.

The Child Safe Organisations team, from the Queensland Family and Child Commission, is visiting Central West Queensland to help you understand these obligations. We’ll explore what the Act means in practice, including the Child Safe Standards, the Universal Principle, and the Reportable Conduct Scheme.

This will give you a clear understanding of the reforms, how they work together, how they support safer environments for children and young people across the state, what you can do to prepare and the resources available to support you. Find out more about the changes, visit qfcc.qld.gov.au/childsafe
