Round 1 (FY26): Innovation and Diversification
The goal of this round is to support small businesses in the Longreach Regional Council area by funding short-term strategic consulting projects. These projects are designed to help businesses address a defined challenge or opportunity in a strategic area of their choosing.
Council’s Small Business Friendly Grant Program is designed to help local businesses thrive. In this round, we’re focusing on innovation and diversification - projects that bring fresh ideas, new technologies, and creative approaches to strengthen your business and the local economy.
What We’re Looking For
We want to support projects that:
- Introduce new products, services, or processes;
- Adopt digital tools or technologies that improve efficiency or customer experience;
- Open up new markets or revenue streams;
- Encourage sustainable business practices and resource efficiency;
- Build long-term adaptability in a changing economic environment.

Funding Available
- Up to $2,000 from Council, matched by your own contribution of equal or greater value.
- Funding is limited and competitive - make sure your proposal is clear, innovative, and achievable.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible, your business must:
- Hold a valid ABN and be based in the Longreach Regional Council area;
- Employ fewer than 20 full-time equivalent staff;
- Have been operating for at least six months;
- Have no overdue payments to Council.
What’s Not Covered
Funding cannot be used for wages, ongoing operational costs, retrospective expenses, personal items, or statutory fees.

- A detailed project proposal;
- A current, itemised quote from a third-party supplier or service provider; and,
- Proof of matching funds.
