Isisford Off-Stream Storage Dam
Published on 13 July 2026
Council is currently monitoring a leak that has been identified in the Isisford Off-Stream Storage Dam wall.
As a precautionary measure, Council has commenced pumping water from the dam back into the river to reduce pressure on the structure while further investigations are undertaken.
An independent specialist engineer has been engaged to inspect the dam and provide expert advice on its condition. Council is also continuing to monitor the site closely.
The risk of dam wall failure is currently considered low. However, in line with good risk management practices, Council has temporarily closed access to the immediate dam area and is asking campers in nearby low-lying areas to relocate while assessments are completed. Alternative arrangements are being made, and relevant camping fees will be waived during this period.
Importantly, there is no anticipated impact to town water supply at this stage, and level 1 water restrictions remain in place. These precautionary actions are being taken to ensure community safety while Council gathers expert advice.
Council thanks the community for its patience and cooperation and will provide further updates once the engineering assessment has been completed.
