Council advises that designs for the upgrade of the Thomson River weirs have now been completed. All required approvals to proceed with the project have been secured, granted by Regional Interests Development Approval (RIDA) and Ministerial Infrastructure Designation (MID). Construction works are scheduled to commence once river levels have subsided and ground conditions are suitable for safe access and operation. The planned upgrades will increase the weirs’ water storage capacity by approximately 28%, expanding from 3,600 megalitres (ML) to 4,500 ML. Council will continue to keep the community informed and will provide further updates on the project status over the coming months.
