We all carry stories worth preserving, but beginning a memoir can feel overwhelming. The Stories That Shape Us is a warm, practical workshop designed to help ordinary people begin preserving the experiences that have shaped their lives. Queensland author and memoir-writing educator Natalie Stockdale will introduce participants to The Memoir Compass™, her simple six-stage pathway for turning a lifetime of memories into a memoir. Participants will discover their reason for writing, create a Life Map of important memories and turning points, begin identifying the deeper thread running through their story, and learn how to bring one meaningful memory to life as a vivid scene.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have begun writing and will leave with a clear, practical pathway for continuing their memoir at home.
The workshop is especially suited to people who have thought, 'I'd love to write my story one day,' but have never known how to start. No previous writing experience is required.
