Longreach Regional Council Impounded Vehicles

Longreach Regional Council impounds vehicles in accordance with Section 100 of the Transport Operations (Road Use Management) Act 1995 (TORUM), which allows for the removal of abandoned vehicles from roads and public areas within the Longreach Regional Council area.

If your vehicle has been impounded, please contact the Regulatory Services Department on 07 4658 4111 to discuss collection.

To have your vehicle released from the impound facility:

  • Proof of ownership is mandatory.
  • All impounding fees must be paid in full prior to release.

Please note:

Council cannot release an unregistered vehicle from the impound yard unless it meets one of the following conditions:

  • transported using a trade plate,
  •  placed on a vehicle trailer,
  • legally registered, or
  • towed from the site.

Associated Fees:

  • Impound Release Fee: $154.00
  • Towing Costs: As per cost from towing location – TBA on collection
  • CITEC Registration Search: $22.00
  • REVS (PPSR) Search: $25.00
