Libraries in the Longreach Region

Longreach Regional Council offers library services to the Longreach, Ilfracombe and Isisford communities. All libraries provide traditional resources, as well as online resources, including E-Books, E-Audio Books and free downloadable music.

Rural Libraries Queensland

Longreach Regional Council is a participant in Rural Libraries Queensland – a collaboration between local councils and the State Library of Queensland. Members can request items, renew loans and access online resources. Library members can download from home their choice of eAudiobooks, free Music, eBooks, Magazines and resources for children including National Geographic Kids. Computers and iPads
Computers and iPads are free of charge to all Library Members. Printing, photocopying and scanning are available, fees apply.

First5Forever
The Longreach Library participates with the Universal Family Literacy Program, which is aimed to supporting a stronger language and literacy environment for children and babies.  For more information, please contact the Longreach Library (07) 4658 0735.

Inter-Library Loans
This service is provided for members who would like to obtain material that is not available from the Rural Libraries Queensland catalogue.

Workshops and Activities
Throughout the year all three Libraries run Technology Training, Children's Activities, Rhyme/Story Time, Robotics and various displays.  For more information, please contact the Longreach Library (07) 4658 0735.

How to Join

Membership - Free and is open to all residents (identification required) - membership form

Borrowing Period - 28 days with 10 items per membership.

Returns - Items can be returned to any of the three libraries or via the after hours return shute.
