Water

Longreach Regional Council is the water distribution service provider for the Region. Council manages four Water Treatment Plants – one each in Longreach, Ilfracombe, Isisford and Yaraka. Water meters are installed with all river water connections and meters are read twice a year by Council. Excessive consumption is charged to the owner once a year.

River water is limited by the season, so it is essential that all users maintain 'Water Wise' practices. Longreach Regional Council has water restrictions in place all year.

Current Water Restrictions:

Longreach: Level 1 (from 06/02/2020)
Ilfracombe: Level 1 (from 11/02/2020)
Isisford: Level 1 (from 12/04/2019)
Yaraka: Level 1 (from 12/04/2019)
